The server has survived being evicted from its previous residence, transported to the new apartment, reassembled, and connected to the new Internet and network infrastructure. Against all odds, the approximately 47 cables have been reconnected, the network configuration has been resurrected from the depths of memory, and the services are back online. What happened During the relocation: The server was moved without being dropped A suspicious number of cables were unplugged and subsequently re-plugged The new Internet connection was configured The network infrastructure was rebuilt Services were brought back online Various things inevitably decided to stop working Various things were subsequently convinced to work again The Homecave has been successfully relocated Current status 🟢 Homecave: Operational 🟢 Jellyfin: Operational 🟢 Network: Operational 🟢 Internet: Operational 🟢 Server: Still alive 🟢 Cables: Somehow accounted for 🟢 Server cleanliness: We don't talk about that The maintenance window has officially ended. Thank you for your patience while Homecave physically changed caves. 🫡 Root cause: Moving house. Change type: Physical infrastructure relocation. Final risk assessment: Server successfully survived. Actual ETA: Eventually™ Final status: Resolved. No servers were intentionally harmed during this maintenance. One cable may still be missing. Unplanned Archaeological Maintenance https://status.homecave.site/incident/1062545 Mon, 14 Sep 2026 18:59:00 -0000 https://status.homecave.site/incident/1062545#50cfdcf87d121abcc4089b3429ace6fba8cb75810afda6dfeee47e76231a51c0 Incident Jellyfin recovered. Service has been restored and is operating normally. The incident has been resolved following extensive investigation, troubleshooting, and several highly scientific attempts at turning it off and on again. The underlying cause has been identified as “something was fucked.” The server is now clean, operational, and pretending nothing happened. Impact: Users were temporarily deprived of their legally acquired entertainment. Duration: Long enough to become embarrassing. Root cause: Under investigation. Postmortem: Probably going to be ignored. Current status: 🟢 Resolved Thank you for your patience while we performed absolutely critical infrastructure maintenance at an irresponsible hour. 🫡 Unplanned Archaeological Maintenance https://status.homecave.site/incident/1062545 Mon, 14 Sep 2026 07:25:00 -0000 https://status.homecave.site/incident/1062545#354794088fdbcee68af40e4ef03b62e58d4a690eb7ac688371f852e5233877bd Incident Jellyfin went down. The investigation is ongoing. Preliminary findings indicate that the infrastructure was operating within expected parameters, while the operator was operating outside expected parameters. The server has recently undergone emergency archaeological excavation and removal of several geological layers of dust. Further details will be provided once we determine why the thing we just cleaned is no longer doing the thing it was supposed to do. Impact: Jellyfin unavailable. Root cause: Under investigation. Operator: Also under investigation. Confidence: Questionable. 🤡 Maintenance: Home Server Relocation & Maintenance https://status.homecave.site/maintenance/1038441 Fri, 28 Aug 2026 23:22:48 -0000 https://status.homecave.site/incident/1038441#7b9f99fdbd02c3146ed50682399dd0dc279c9f3bf27b7e3ec1fb7fad9d8bf174 Maintenance The entire Homecave is being physically relocated. I am moving to a new apartment, which means the server is also being evicted from its current residence. During the move, Jellyfin and other home services may be unavailable while the server is transported, reassembled, and connected to the new Internet/network infrastructure. Maintenance window: 📅 September 25 → September 30, 2026 The maintenance window is intentionally generous because we are dealing with the highly unpredictable technology known as “moving house.” Expected activities include: * Moving the server without dropping it * Reconnecting approximately 47 cables that nobody documented * Setting up the new Internet connection * Remembering what the old network configuration was * Rebuilding anything that decides it doesn’t want to work anymore * Hopefully keeping the server clean this time Expected impact: Jellyfin and potentially other Homecave services may experience extended downtime during the relocation. The maintenance window may be extended if the move, ISP installation, network configuration, or general chaos takes longer than expected. Root cause: Moving house. Change type: Physical infrastructure relocation. Risk level: Please don’t let me drop the server. ETA: Somewhere between “soon” and “when the ISP decides to cooperate.” Thank you for your patience while Homecave physically changes caves. 🫡 No servers were intentionally harmed during this maintenance. Unscheduled Homelab Power Nap https://status.homecave.site/incident/1032017 Tue, 25 Aug 2026 13:19:00 -0000 https://status.homecave.site/incident/1032017#0578a84b24d82271ea00043fab702ebf157315564de4523970f58b5e5cb36245 Incident Jellyfin recovered. Power has been restored and the homelab has successfully returned from its unscheduled power nap. The server and services are back online and operating normally. No components were harmed during this incident, although several services are understandably still processing what just happened. Root cause: Power outage. Resolution: Electricity has been rediscovered. Operator involvement: Minimal for once. Status: Resolved. Unscheduled Homelab Power Nap https://status.homecave.site/incident/1032017 Tue, 25 Aug 2026 06:44:00 -0000 https://status.homecave.site/incident/1032017#32bcc7848eeb1e163d384d293115300e8dde8218fd882822917b05e783217bf9 Incident Jellyfin went down. The homelab has unexpectedly entered power-saving mode. A power outage has taken the server offline, along with the services that were unfortunate enough to be living on it. No application-level issues have been identified at this time. The server simply has no electricity, which is generally considered a fairly effective way to stop a server. Impact: Jellyfin and dependent services unavailable. Cause: Power outage. Operator fault: Surprisingly, no. Current status: Waiting for civilization to restore electricity. The ISP Has Left the Chat https://status.homecave.site/incident/1022033 Thu, 20 Aug 2026 10:02:00 -0000 https://status.homecave.site/incident/1022033#621618b4207c10f018fdcaf3a09d1741213bebf88bae0d7d1443bc45db8deb7e Incident The ISP has returned from its journey. External connectivity has been restored and jf.homecave.site is once again reachable from outside the Homecave network. Jellyfin external access has been verified as operational. No changes were required on the Homecave side. We simply waited patiently for the Internet to come back, as one does in a healthy and totally normal relationship with an ISP. Impact: External Jellyfin access restored. Root cause: ISP connectivity outage. Resolution: ISP connectivity restored. Homecave: Innocent. ISP: We’ll be keeping an eye on you. 👀 The ISP Has Left the Chat https://status.homecave.site/incident/1022033 Wed, 19 Aug 2026 23:09:00 -0000 https://status.homecave.site/incident/1022033#320eeeb31a207fccaf92403464f2ab0214aebd980d1965855d70ca0a2ce0cd85 Incident The ISP has left the chat. jf.homecave.site is currently unreachable from outside the Homecave network. Initial investigation indicates that Jellyfin itself is healthy. Unfortunately, the Internet has decided that external access is no longer a feature. We are currently investigating the upstream connectivity issue and waiting for our ISP to remember that we exist. Impact: Jellyfin unavailable to external users. Jellyfin: Innocent. Homecave: Operational. ISP: Currently under investigation. Root cause: The Internet has chosen violence.
